CARACTERÍSTICAS DEL PROYECTO / PROJECT CHARACTERISTICS: Construcción y operación de las instalaciones necesarias para producir 2 mil toneladas por año de yodo y 200 mil toneladas por año de nitrato mediante métodos a rajo abierto, extrayendo yodo y sales de nitrato, conocido como “caliche”, su carguío y transporte. / Construction and operation of the facilities needed to produce 2 thousand tons per year of iodine and 200 thousand tons per year of nitrate through open-pit methods, extracting iodine and nitrate salts, known as “caliche”, its load and transportation.

UBICACIÓN / LOCATION: A 150 km al sureste de la ciudad de Iquique, en el sector de Victoria, comuna de Pozo Almonte, provincia del Tamarugal en la Región de Tarapacá, distante a 1.861 km al norte de Santiago. / 150 km southeast of the city of Iquique, in the Victoria Sector, Pozo Almonte commune, Tamarugal province in the Tarapaca region, 1,861 km north of Santiago.

ESTADO ACTUAL DEL PROYECTO / CURRENT STATE OF PROJECT: En construcción. Se estima que la vida útil del proyecto será de 20 años. / Under construction. The project’s useful life is estimated in 20 years.

CAPACIDAD DE GENERACIÓN DE EMPLEO / EMPLOYMENT GENERATION CAPACITY: Durante la construcción se requerirá un promedio de 150 y un máximo de 200 personas, mientras que en la operación se necesitará un promedio de 130 trabajadores y un máximo de 170. / An average of 150, and a maximum of 200 people, will be required during the construction stage, while an average of 130 workers, and a maximum of 170, will be needed for the operation stage.
