Desde su creación, hace más de 65 años, el Grupo CAP ha incorporado el concepto de sustentabilidad en su visión de negocios. La compañía cuenta con diversas operaciones distribuidas a lo largo Chile, constituyéndose en la única empresa en el país presente en toda la cadena de valor ferrífera, desde la minería del hierro (CAP Minería), producción siderúrgica (CAP Acero), hasta la elaboración de soluciones en acero (Procesamiento de Acero: Cintac e Intasa), para satisfacer las necesidades de sus múltiples clientes nacionales y extranjeros.
Sus minerales son exportados principalmente a los mercados asiáticos, a la vez que sus productos y soluciones constructivas en acero se encuentran presentes en Chile, Argentina y Perú.Adicionalmente, el Grupo CAP se está expandiendo a negocios afines, aprovechando sus ventajas competitivas en infraestructura portuaria, generación eléctrica y de agua desalinizada.
La fuerte disminución en los precios internacionales del mineral de hierro y el acero, fue uno de los principales desafíos que debió enfrentar el Grupo CAP durante 2015, situación que también experimentan otras empresas mineras y siderúrgicas a nivel global. A pesar de este ajuste en precios, el Grupo CAP registró una utilidad de US$2,1 millones durante el ejercicio 2015, cifra que se compara con los US$55,5 millones del periodo anterior, y un margen EBITDA de 19,4%, muy similar al 21,3% obtenido el año 2014.Uno de los focos de las Prioridades Estratégicas en todas las empresas del Grupo CAP en los próximos 5 años, es la innovación. The Company
Since its creation, more than 65 years ago, the CAP Group has incorporated the sustainability concept to its business vision. The company has different operations distributed across Chile, making it the only company in the country present in the entire ferrous value chain, from iron mining (CAP Mineria), steel production (CAP Acero), to the development of steel solutions (Steel Processing: Cintac and Intasa), in order to satisfy the needs of the multiple domestic and foreign clients.
Its minerals are exported mainly to Asian markets, while its steel products and constructive solutions are present in Chile, Argentina and Peru. Additionally, the CAP Group is expanding to related businesses, using its competitive advantages in port infrastructure, electric generation and desalinated water.
The strong decline of the international prices of the iron and steel ore was one of the main challenges that the CAP Group had to face in 2015, a situation that was also experienced by other mining and steel companies in the world. Despite this price adjustment, the CAP Group registered US$2.1 million in profit in 2015, number that is compared with the US$55.5 of the previous year, and an EBITDA margin of 19.4%, very similar to the 21.3% obtained in 2014.
